“Some pimps beat their women, on the principle that that is the only way to make them fear and love them. This may seem a paradox; but it is indeed true that many prostitutes do not believe their lovers care for them unless they ‘beat them up’ occasionally. The psychology of the relation of prostitute to pimp is a complicated one, difficult for the normal individual to understand.”

Testimony of Dennis Paris – Part IV

“Can you describe how she looked as far as her age goes when she was fully undressed?”

“Very, very developed. The age wasn’t an issue. I met her in a club.”

“During the course of the time that Marianne worked for you, did you ever have any suspicion that she was less than 18 years old?” Donovan asks.

“Never.”

“Now, during the course of your relationship with her, did you ever see identifications that she had?”

“From Marianne? Yes. I was at The Bar With No Name, downtown Hartford.”

“Again, was that a hip hop club?”

“Yeah, I think on Saturday nights it was hip hop,” he answers.

“And during the course of that evening, did Marianne ask you to do something?” Donovan inquires.

“Yes,” Paris replies. “She walked over, she had her wallet thing, and her ID and money. So she came over to the DJ booth and she asked me to hold it for her. It’s one of those little ones, you just – like when girls go into clubs, they’re not going to bring a big purse, where are they going to put it. So they had this little wallet thing and they usually have tight clothes on, probably no pockets. Can’t remember what she had on, but she asked me to hold it in the (DJ) booth.”

“And did you do that for her?”

“Yes,” says Paris.

“And was the ID clearly visible?”

“There’s a clear (section) on the outside of those wallets, I don’t know if you guys know what I’m talking about, but it’s clear thing where the ID’s go down and see that side of it so, yeah.”

“And did you go give it back to her at the end of the night?”

“No. She didn’t come back to get it. She left.”

“She left with friends?”

“I couldn’t tell you, Jeremiah. She left.”

“Did you receive a telephone call from her after that?”

“Yes,” Paris replies. “She told me she needed her wallet back because she was getting a tattoo and she needed the ID.”

“What did you tell her to do?”

“I told her meet me at Stage East (a night club in East Hartford) and she said she would be there. I told her meet us in the back and she did.”

“And were you able to give her back her wallet?”

“Yes.”

“And was Hollywood able to get her Hollywood tattoo?”

“Yes,” he answers, “Hollywood did get her Hollywood tattoo.”

“Now, let’s move on to Eileen. Sometimes we call her Eileen W., sometimes we call her Eileen K. It has to do with whether it’s her married name or her maiden name. You saw Eileen testify during the course of the trial, did you not?” Donovan asks.
